Maria Elena Martinez Murillo Cuervo
María es consultora con experiencia de más de 20 años en desarrollo rural sostenible. Ha apoyado a distintas organizaciones en la construcción de estrategias integrales y manejo de proyectos a través de la planeación estratégica, la articulación de redes de innovación, alianzas multiactor y mecanismos de financiamiento. Es fundadora y directora de Strategink, firma de consultoría en desarrollo rural sostenible.
Hasta 2018, trabajó para The Nature Conservancy construyendo estrategias para integrar la agricultura climáticamente inteligente dentro de la agenda baja en emisiones. Se desempeñó como Chief of Party del programa MREDD+ y como Directora Interina de Tierras para México y América Central del Norte.
En el sector público, María fue Subsecretaria de Planeación Rural en Jalisco, donde desarrolló una agenda integral de impacto para cadenas de valor clave, basada en el desarrollo de capacidades, la investigación y alianzas. Anteriormente, fue Coordinadora Ejecutiva del Diagnóstico de Derechos de Propiedad en la Secretaría de Desarrollo Social (SEDESOL) y trabajó en la Comisión Federal de Mejora Regulatoria (COFEMER). En el sector privado fue Coordinadora de Proyectos y Contenidos para Mexico Business Forum (MBF), firma asociada en México de The Economist Intelligence Unit y analista de contenidos en TV Azteca.
Es Licenciada en Relaciones Internacionales por el ITAM, Maestra en Economía para el Desarrollo con especialización en Agricultura y Sustentabilidad por The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, y exbecaria Fulbright-García Robles. Igualmente, estudió la Maestría en Política y Políticas Públicas en el ITESO.
Maria Elena Martinez Murillo Cuervo – Strategink
Maria is a consultant with 20 years of experience in the agricultural sector and sustainable rural development in LatinAmerica. Her areas of expertise include value chains, innovation networks, climate smart practices and stakeholder engagement to foster conservation and economic opportunities in the rural sector in Latin America. She is founder and Director of Strategink, a consulting firm on sustainable rural development and strategic planning.
She worked for The Nature Conservancy in Mexico and North Central America under several roles and served as Undersecretary of Rural Planning in Jalisco, where she developed a comprehensive agenda for key value chains, innovative capacity building strategies and stakeholder engagement. Earlier, she was Executive Coordinator for the Diagnosis of Property Rights in Mexico at the Ministry of Social Development (SEDESOL) in collaboration with the Federal Office of the Presidency. She also served at the Federal Commission for Regulatory Improvement (COFEMER).
Her experience in the private sector includes working as Project and Content Coordinator for the Mexico Business Forum (MBF), an associate firm in Mexico of the Economist Intelligence Unit and being a content analyst at TV Azteca. She holds a BA on International Relations from ITAM, a MA on Development Economics with specialization in Agriculture and Sustainability from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University; she studied the MA program in Politics and Public Policy at ITESO. Maria was awarded the Fulbright-Garcia Robles scholarship.
